International Travel Tips

Last updated 6 years ago

International travel is more complicated than domestic travel, especially since September 11, 2001.  Besides meeting strict security requirements, you also have to find long-term parking for your car. Follow these travel tips to ensure your international travel plans go as smoothly as possible:

  • Make Sure Your Passport Is Up-to-Date

Many travelers don’t realize that their passports have expired until it’s too late.  Always check your passport’s expiration date against both the day that you plan to leave the country and the day that you plan to return.  You also want to check with your passport office to ensure you don’t need a visa to travel to your intended country. If you do need a visa, you need to send off your passport and paperwork as soon as possible.

Additionally, remember that the rules governing passports for people under the age of 16 are different.  You should always check with the U.S. State Department to make sure that your child’s passport is still valid.

  • Check for Travel Warnings

The U.S. Department of State has a website dedicated to issuing travel alerts and travel warnings.  Travel alerts refer to a temporary state of affairs, like a flu outbreak or a terrorist threat. They’re not to be taken lightly, but the expectation is that they’ll eventually cease.  Travel warnings, on the other hand, are a more permanent fixture and concern issues like widespread crime and civil war.  Make sure to check out the website so that you can make up your own mind about whether or not you should be traveling.

Whether you’re flying to Costa Rica for a much-deserved vacation or are making a fact-finding trip to the Sudan, you’re going to need long-term airport parking.  Fortunately, for those flying out of the Orlando airport, there’s Park, Bark and Fly.  We provide great airport and long-term RV parking.  For more information, call us at (407) 855-5899 today.
